3 Days 2 Nights Wild Orang Utan Tracking
Track wild orang utans deep in Batang Ai rainforest and stay with an Iban longhouse community.
Journey into the Batang Ai rainforest - one of the last strongholds of wild Bornean orang utans. Two full days of guided jungle tracking with Iban guides, staying at Jingin Longhouse where you'll share evenings with the community chief. This trek STRENUOUS and recommends it only for the very fit.
What to expect
Day 1
Morning pick up and a 5-hour drive (~250km) through pepper, rubber and cocoa country with three stops. Arrive at the Batang Ai jetty and take a motorised longboat (~1¼hrs) across the Blue Lake to Jingin Longhouse. Check in to the guesthouse, dinner, and cross the canopy bridge to meet the chief and longhouse family. Overnight.
Day 2
Breakfast, then full-day jungle trekking in search of wild orang utan with a packed lunch on the trail. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
After breakfast, trek about an hour to Capan and continue along the shallow stream, finishing around noon in the heart of the Borneo rainforest hoping for a glimpse of wild orang utan. Trek back for lunch, take a boat to the jetty and drive back to Kuching, arriving late evening.
