About Peraya

We are a Bidayuh family who opened our homestay to guests in 2006, offering responsible ecotourism rooted in the local way of life.

Family-run

Peraya Homestay is owned and run by a Bidayuh family. Every visit supports the families of Kampung Peraya.

Conservation

We protect the Sirin river and surrounding rainforest. Sustainable practices are not a feature — they are how we live.

The Bidayuh

One of Sarawak's oldest peoples.

The Bidayuh are among the indigenous peoples of Sarawak, Borneo — known as the "Land Dayak" and recognised for their warm hospitality and rich material culture. Peraya village sits within a Bidayuh community that has lived in the Padawan highlands for generations.

Traditional culture

Guests share in traditional Bidayuh culture — music, crafts, and village life passed down through generations.

Bamboo cooking

Food is cooked in bamboo tubes over open fire — an ancient technique that gives rice and fish a flavour impossible to replicate elsewhere.

River life

The Sirin river is the heartbeat of Peraya — bamboo rafting, river walks, and quiet moments on the bank are all part of the stay.
