4 Days 3 Nights Wild Orang Utan Tracking
Four days of deep jungle tracking for wild orang utans in Batang Ai.
An extended orang utan tracking expedition into the heartland of Borneo, giving you three full days in the Batang Ai forest with experienced Iban guides, staying in a traditional longhouse lodge throughout. This strenuous trek only recommended for the very fit.
What to expect
Day 1
Meet at the hotel and visit Semenggoh to see the orang utan, then travel overland (~4hrs) to the Batang Ai jetty. Continue by longboat across the man-made lake (~2hrs) to Jingin, the last Iban settlement in the region. Check in at the longhouse, join the folk, try tuak rice wine and overnight.
Day 2
After breakfast, a 5-hour trek to Tuchong Janang, the highest point in the Jingin jungles, then along the nature trail spotting wildlife (orang utan with luck) and learning about the plants. Packed lunch on the trail. Return to the longhouse for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Breakfast, then a strenuous 4–6 hour trek to Serigi via Capan for further orang utan spotting. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Early breakfast and a final morning spotting orang utan within Batang Ai National Park. Picnic lunch on site, then return to the Batang Ai jetty and transfer to the Kuching city hotel.
