5 Days 4 Nights Wild Orang Utan Tracking
Five days - longhouse, jungle camping and four nights deep in wild Borneo.
The most immersive orang utan tracking experience: one night at the longhouse then three nights jungle camping, pushing deep into Batang Ai territory rarely visited. This strenuous trek only for the very fit.
What to expect
Day 1
Meet at the hotel and visit Semenggoh to see the orang utan, then travel overland (~4hrs) to the Batang Ai jetty. Continue by longboat across the man-made lake (~1½hrs) to an Iban longhouse. Check in, join the folk, try tuak rice wine and overnight at the Iban settlement.
Day 2
After breakfast, a 6-hour trek to the virgin jungle of Tutong, continuing along the nature trail spotting wildlife and orang utan. Packed lunch on the trail. Choose a camping site in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Breakfast, then a strenuous 4–6 hour trek to spot orang utan, reaching Lubang Baya. Board the longboat upriver and set up camp for the night, experiencing the rainforest after dark. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Breakfast, then a strenuous 4–6 hour trek through Batang Ai virgin jungle for orang utan and other wildlife. Packed lunch, trek back to the campsite, free at leisure and overnight.
Day 5
After breakfast, free at leisure before transferring to Kuching airport or the city hotel. Lunch en route.
