Bamboo Rafting in Sarawak: What to Expect on the River
Bamboo rafting in Sarawak is not whitewater — it is a slow, traditional Bidayuh craft on the clear rivers of Padawan, co...
Peraya is a small Bidayuh village in Padawan, Sarawak. We host a few guests at a time, so every stay is personal.
We are a Bidayuh family who opened our village to a few guests at a time, twenty years ago. Most of our visitors come once and write to us for years afterwards.
The Sirin runs clear and cold from the mountains. We protect it from fishing and feed the fish from the bank. You raft it on bamboo we cut and cured ourselves.
Wood and bamboo, mattresses and fans, mosquito screens on every window. Showers and toilets are next door. Simple, clean, real.
Most of what you eat with us comes from within an hour's walk: midin ferns, river fish, jungle herbs, rice. Cooked the old way in bamboo tubes.
Pair your stay with a guided trip beyond the kampung — or book any of these as a standalone day. Same family, same standards, twenty years of knowing where to go.
